Tour Outline

THE ROCKS PUBS – FROM FIRST BEERS TO FINAL CHEERS

Your tour begins at “Australia’s Longest Running Irish pub”.  Here, you will meet each other and your local guide (he or she will be INSIDE the pub, wearing a yellow t-shirt with the Sydney Pub Tour Logo on the front). Learn of the strong Irish connections in Australia’s colonial history,  and have your first introduction to Australian beer or wine (as per your choice).

The next stop has over 160 genuine Australian beers on offer, is the recipient of various industry awards including “Best Iconic/Heritage Hotel” and “Best Boutique Beer Offering”, and the host of the Annual Australian Beer Festival. This is also the scheduled dinner stop, consisting of famous pizzas, including, but not limited to, kangaroo and crocodile.

Once your bellies are full, you will head to what is  boldly advertised as, “Sydney’s Oldest Pub”. This grand old pub is still the meeting point for many Australian Returned Service Men and Women on ANZAC Day. Hear the importance of the ANZAC Legends, and learn of the Military connections to the pub.

The next destination is “Australia’s Oldest Pub Brewery”, and “Sydney’s Oldest Hotel”. Here, you will learn all about the art of brewing, and have the opportunity to sample award winning craft beer, brewed right beneath your feet. Rub shoulders with the locals, and find out how much a ‘spot at the bar’ means to them.

Your final destination, is a charming British watering hole,  purpose built, with convict connections, to be a pub over 170 years ago. You will have the opportunity to explore the cellar (otherwise closed to the general public), and hear disturbing tales of Sydney’s underworld.  Maybe even kick off the heels, and dance the jig to a live local band. www.heroofwaterloo.com.au

Please note: This is not a ‘Pub Crawl’ or party tour! It is an historical walking tour with dinner and drinks included.
